Utility mapping is a crucial process that aims to accurately identify and document the specific locations of underground cables or pipes. These underground utilities encompass a wide range of essential infrastructure, such as electric wiring, telecommunications lines, natural gas pipelines, water lines, and wastewater pipes. In certain cases, utility mapping may even encompass the identification of oil, natural gas, or other fuel lines. To achieve this, ground-penetrating radar (GPR) technology is employed. GPR operates by measuring the dielectric characteristics present within the subsurface material. In simpler terms, GPR units detect variances in the conductivity of objects within the ground.
